Meet the Directors

Emily Gomez, Head Band Director

Mrs. Standlee Gomez is in her 15th year teaching and is originally from the Beaumont, TX.   Mrs. Gomez received her undergraduate degree from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Music Degree.  She performed on flute and piccolo with groups such as the UNT Green Brigade and Concert Ensembles.  She also holds her Master's degree in Counseling and Education from Lamar University graduating with the highest honor of Sum Cum Laude.

She started her career in Houston, TX teaching private flute lessons.  During this time, she developed her flute studio to over 40 students coming from middle school and high school.  Her students were able to participate in the All-City band, All-Region band, and All-State band. Students were also performing at the State Solo & Ensemble competition receiving superior ratings.

After this experience, Mrs. Gomez decided to teach band in elementary and secondary schools. She received her first teaching position at Bonner Elementary as the primary director. During her time at Bonner, she taught beginner woodwinds, brass, and percussion.  The band went to the Houston ISD elementary band festival each year and received superior ratings.  ​Following Bonner, she transferred to Chavez High School in Houston ISD as the Associate Director of Bands assisting with the marching band, wind ensemble, beginner classes, and taught music appreciation. She also taught the 5th grade band at Bonner Elementary and assisted at Stevenson Middle school.

In 2013, Mrs. Gomez moved to Dallas to teach at Ann Richards Middle School as the Associate Director of Bands.  As the associate, she taught the beginner woodwind and percussion classes, directed the Symphonic Band, and assisted with the Honor Band.  After 3 years, Mrs. Gomez was promoted as the Director of Bands at Ann Richards Middle School.  She taught the woodwind and percussion beginner classes, directed the Honor Band, and assisted with the Symphonic Band and Jazz Band. While at Ann Richards, the band program grew into a very successful program.  There were several students who participated in the All-City Band, All-Region Band, and made superior ratings at Solo & Ensemble.  The Symphonic and Honor Bands also participated at UIL competitions receiving excellent and superior ratings.

This is Mrs. Gomez's third year at Myers Middle School.    Several students made the All-City and All-Region Band.  She also brought Wind Ensemble students to UIL.  They made superior ratings at UIL receiving a 111-111 which is a perfect score.  

Mrs. Gomez is the Head Band Director, the woodwind specialist, and directs the Wind Ensemble here at Myers.

Mrs. Gomez currently resides in Corinth with her Husband, Victor Gomez.  They have three pets of which are two cats (Jett and Zoey) and one dog (Phoebe).  They welcome to the world a beautiful baby girl on June 22nd named Isabella.  On her free time she likes to paint, cook, watch Hulu and Netflix, and spend quality time with her family and friends. 

Brad Winders, Assistant Band Director

Mr. Brad Winders comes to Myers MS after working as the Music Director for Tioga ISD for 9 years. Brad is a graduate from the University of North Texas with a Bachelors in Music Education. While working within Tioga, Brad started the Middle School band program as well as Marching, Choir, and Jazz classes for the district. 

Brad has just celebrated his 6 year anniversary with his beautiful wife, Elizabeth and welcomed their first child, Robert, to the world in May of this year! As a long time Denton resident, Brad is ecstatic to bring his love of music to Denton ISD.

Frank Chapple, Percussion Director

Mr. Chapple is currently starting his 25th year of teaching band and percussion in the DFW area. In that time, he has worked at Lewisville HS, Flower Mound HS, Grapevine HS and Keller HS. While at Keller High School, his middle schools and high school were selected to perform at The Midwest Clinic in Chicago as well as the State Honor Band of Texas. The Keller High School Marching Band has been a Finalist at BOA Grand Nationals, a multiple time Area Marching Champion, Finalist at the BOA Super Regional in San Antonio and the 6A Texas State Marching Band Contest (finishing in the top five of all 6A programs in 2018).

Mr. Chapple has been an educator within the Drum Corps International community for 20+ years including a 1996 World Championship with the Phantom Regiment. He has also taught The Glassmen, The Crossmen, Carolina Crown and The Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps. He is currently the Battery Caption Manager with The Crossmen from San Antonio, Texas.

In 2015, Mr. Chapple released his fundamentals-based percussion curriculum: The Packet and has been an invited clinician at the 2015 Texas Bandmasters Association Convention, 2016 Midwest Clinic, 2017 Oklahoma Bandmasters Association Convention, 2017 Texas Music Educators Association Convention, 2018 TMEA Convention, 2019 Indiana MEA Convention, 2019 Colorado MEA Convention and the 2020 TMEA 100th Convention. Mr. Chapple graduated Cum Laude from Northern Illinois University and is a member of TBA, TMEA, PAS, NAfME and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. He is sponsored by the Vic Firth Company,Ludwig-Musser Percussion, Conn-Selmer, Inc., Remo Inc. and Zildjian. He is the president and founder of FECIV Publications as well as the The Hand-To-Hand Project (a 501c3 non-profit percussion organization).

He currently lives in Fort Worth with his beautiful wife Anna and their four children and three dogs.
