Mrs. Kinnaird

Greetings Stephens Bulldogs!

My name is Laura Kinnaird and I am the Music Teacher here at Stephens.  This is my 25th year teaching Elementary Music, and it is my 16th year here in Denton ISD. I finished my Masters in Music Education at UNT in 1999. My primary instrument is voice, but I also play piano.  Originally, I am from Tucson, AZ where I received my Bachelor’s in Music Education from the University of Arizona.  I spent two years teaching Elementary Music there before moving to Texas.  After meeting my wonderful husband Chris out here in Denton, we decided to stay in the area. We live here with our two amazing boys, Sean (19), who is an automotive technician at Sewell Cadillac in Grapevine, and Evan (16) who is in 11th Grade at Ryan High School. Evan is a baritone in the Varsity Choir and plays French Horn in the Varsity Band. 

Besides music, my special interests are traveling (when time and money allow) and going to the movies.  I am looking forward to getting to know all of you better as we go through the year here at Stephens.  My students success as musicians and creative young artists is of great importance to me.  Not only do I enjoy sharing my knowledge of Music, but I relish the things that my students end up teaching me every year as well.  Please do not hesitate to contact me at lkinnaird@dentonisd.org or 940-369-0837.
