The StarSkills Cafe is a project by the Crownover AVLS classroom which allows students to work on customer service & product preparation job skills, and money handling skills, in anticipation for work during and after high school. Every Wednesday, the StarSkills baristas will prepare drink and snack orders for staff members that can be delivered to teacher's classrooms or offices. Students also take walk-in orders Monday through Friday when customers come into the classroom cafe. We hope you enjoy this special service on our campus!

Sodas, K- cup coffees and water $.75

Iced Coffees $1.00

Snacks $1.00

Smoothies $1.50

*On special occasions throughout the year, the StarSkills baristas will offer and serve special baked treats like gourmet cupcakes and chocolate dipped strawberries, or will offer a full teacher lunch for purchase.

Money (cash only) will be collected when you pick up your coffee or the students deliver it to you. Thank you for helping us "brew independence" with the students in AVLS!

Purpose of Starskills cafe:

Objectives:

1. The objective of the unit is to help students develop skills that they will one day utilize in a job setting.

2. Students will develop appropriate social skills to communicate with customers (staff in the school).

3. Students will prepare and clean up materials.

4. Students will collect payment, return the correct amount of change, and account for money that should have been earned per items sold as well as determine if there is any discrepancy.

Learning Targets:

1. Each student will be able to follow the procedures to prepare the drink cart.

2. Each student will be able to check the Google Form and collect online orders.

3. Each student will be able to navigate to each customer’s room in an efficient and timely manner.

4. Each student will be able to greet their customers and deliver orders appropriately.

5. Each student will be able to collect payment from their customers and return the correct amount of change.

6. Each student will be able to clean up the drink cart.

7. Each student will be able to determine the amount of money that should have been earned per the items sold.

8. Each student will be able to determine the amount of money collected and if there is any discrepancy.
