Advanced Placement (AP)
Opportunity to challenge yourself academically, set yourself apart in the college admission process and potentially earn college credit and placement with a successful exam score
Build college, career and military skills with rigorous learning and support in a high school classroom
Dual Credit (DC)
Opportunity for students to earn high school and college credit simultaneously
Denton ISD has agreements with NCTC, UNT and TWU
Eligibility: minimum 2.5 weighted (earned) GPA + qualifying TSI Assessment Scores
GRADE POINT AVERAGE (GPA)
GPA Calculation begins in 9th grade
4 yrs/core subjects (English, Math, Science & Social Studies) plus 2 years of World Language are used to calculate GPA.
All Honors and AP courses are graded on a 5.0 scale vs. 4.0 scale.
Remember: Advanced-level classes in high school are very different from honors-level classes in middle school.
High school course credits earned in middle school are accepted. However, the grades will not be factored into GPA.
