The TSIA2 is a college placement assessment for all Texas public 2 or 4 year colleges and universities, include many trade schools for students who did not meet college readiness benchmarks on SAT or ACT.
It measures reading, writing, and math skills acquired in secondary education to determine readiness for college-level coursework. Administered on a digital platform, the exam features question-by-question adaptive format, where each item adjust in difficulty based on your previous response.
English 1 students will be given the TSI ELAR test in the Fall. Geometry students will be given the TSI Math test in the Spring. We identify other students who need the TSI (English and/or Math) and test at DHS in October and March (for free).
If you are a Senior wanting to test for college purposes, you can sign up to test at any of the local colleges. There is a cost dependant on if you are taking ELAR, Math, or both.
If you plan on going to a college in Texas, they will likely require you to meet college readiness standards in both ELAR and Math. This can done done using your SAT, ACT, or TSIA scores - or a combination of any two. See the chart to the right for qualifying scores. If you need help determining whether you are TSIA exempt or not, contact your counselor.
