Library Meeting 9/29/20

Recap of the Meeting yesterday:

  1. I’ve ordered posters for everyone for Bluebonnet, 2 x 2, Lone Star, Tayshas. If you want something else like Little Maverick Graphic Novel, or Maverick Graphic Novel (6-12), you can request it from Naomi Bates at Follett or Tuan Nguyen from Mackin. If you need their email, please let me know.

  2. If you want the author Birthday calendar from Perma-Bound are shipping now. You can order one by logging into your Perma-Bound account and ordering one. It’s FREE!

  3. Knowing no time is ever perfect and there will always be some who can’t come, when is the best time for a virtual meeting. Since we have no scheduled PLC days left, we will need to have virtual meeting when necessary. I plan to send as much by email as possible. Here is a form to vote: https://forms.gle/GXjnLWgnd1xfDBS96

  4. I realize no one likes to do statistics and I realize this is already an overwhelming year. So I’ve tried to make this statistics form as short as possible. Here is the form for statistics we discussed yesterday. https://forms.gle/oDYi3doJztQh5xfN6. I will also post this and give you a path to where it is posted. If you teach a lessons multiple times, count it each time you teach it. (Ex: 6 Lessons on how to Place holds for 4th Grade classrooms = 6 lessons.)

  5. I will be going in and coding your overdues as lost starting Thursday, October 1st. If you recall I asked you to do this by the end of October. I realize some of you are still having materials returned. If a book is returned after it is coded lost, you can check it in to have it show up in your catalog. I will be running a report which I will send to you so you can see which books you might need to reorder. For example, I ran Adkins yesterday because it was alphabetically first in the list. I noticed several Dog Man and PInkalicious books which I expect she will probably want to reorder.

  6. Library Advisory Committee – I need an elementary person from the Denton Zone. I’m trying to set this up on a 3 year rotation. Right now I have:

    1. Brazwell Zone – Elementary Robin Russell, term expires 2023 Secondary Jade McClure term expires 2023

    2. Denton Zone - Elementary (open) term expires 2023 Secondary Noel Hill term expires 2021

    3. Guyer Zone Elementary Kim Krutka term expires 2022 Secondary Kristen Davis term expires 2022

    4. Ryan Zone Elementary Nicole Sanders term expires 2022 Secondary Feuerhelm term expires 2021

Open - Elementary Michelle Heidrich, and Kristen Thornton haven’t responded so I don’t know if they are continuing on or not.

  1. Automating Email Overdues (Not COVID Related; Overdues sent by email in general)

    1. Automated email overdue notices currently go out to the email address on each patron account. We currently have the student email address listed for email notices. The first overdue notice goes out at the time the item becomes overdue and then sends additional notices every 2 weeks, for a total of 4 notices.

    2. TLC added the capability to have more than one email address listed for the account, and the notices will go to each email address listed on the Borrower Info/Basic Info.

    3. We do have access to the parent email in our data file. It normally displays on the Extra Info tab so you have access to it in case you need to contact parents.

    4. TLC would have to reprogram where the parent email address goes in order to either replace the student email with the parent email, or add the parent email address in addition to the student email address. If you ADD the parent email, notices will go out to both email addresses listed on the Basic Info.

    5. So the question is, which email addresses do you want overdue notices to go to? FYI – If you add parents email, this means that all email notices will go to parents also - arrived and canceled hold notices. Payment receipts etc https://forms.gle/92NpktXFtTykhBmU6
