Mr. Gonzales is a graduate of William Howard Taft High School in San Antonio and the University of Texas at San Antonio. He has performed with numerous ensembles including Black Gold Drum and Bugle Corps, UTSA Wind Ensemble, UTSA Orchestra, multiple Chamber Ensembles, the UTSA Percussion Ensemble. He has also been a performing member of the Heart of Texas Concert Band and a current member of the San Antonio Wind Symphony.
Past teaching assignments include Assistant Director at White MS, New Braunfels HS and Head Director at New Braunfels Ninth Grade Center and has earned multiple Texas UIL Sweepstakes awards. He was also the Colorguard/Winterguard Director for the Roosevelt Color Guard and most recently, the New Braunfels HS Guard where his ensembles collectively earned six TECA State Divisional Titles. Mr. Gonzales's concert band had the honor of performing at Carnegie Hall in NYC for the National Youth Concert Series in 2013.
Mr. Gonzales is an active clinician in the area for both concert band, marching band as well as colorguard. His professional affiliations include Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Technology Institute for Music Educators, the Association of Texas Small School Bands and the Texas Educational Colorguard Association. Most recently, he completed his tenure as a TMEA State Board Member as TMEA Region 12 Secretary, which he held from 2006-2022.
Mr. Riveros recently finished his studies as an EC-12 certified educator in Music at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. While at Texas State, he was part of multiple ensembles including the Texas State Wind Symphony, Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta del Rio, Steel Band, Percussion Ensemble and Marching Band.
As a percussionist, he spent a lot of time outside the classroom honing his educator and performer skills. These efforts took him to competition at the national level several times with different organizations. He then used the experiences to ground his teaching and standards into high expectations that are achievable by students in any age range. Mr. Riveros has been teaching percussion in the form of private lessons and technician/specialist work for the last 5 years with programs such as the Winston Churchill High School band, and the James Bowie High School band. He recently joined the percussion educational staff at Genesis Drum and Bugle Corps and Arsenal Drum and Bugle Corp.
Mr. Riveros has experience in both open and world class independent ensembles, starting out as the tenor section leader at the Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps, then moving on to playing tenors for Rhythmic force Independent and aging out at Vigilantes Indoor Percussion. In his free time, he enjoys watching and playing soccer as well as working out and playing drum set with his band.
Mrs. Danette Conard is entering her 23rd year teaching band. She currently serves as Fine Arts Dept. Chair and Head Band Director at MVMS. She graduated Valedictorian of Hitchcock High School and was a summa cum laude graduate of Texas State University. She holds a Bachelors of Music degree with lifetime teaching certification in the state of Texas. While director at First Baptist Academy in Universal City, her bands were twice named TAPPS State Champions and twice state runner-up. While at Blanco MS, her band placed 9th in TX in the ATSSB Outstanding Performance Series and received consecutive UIL Sweepstakes awards. She is the principal flutist of the San Antonio Wind Symphony where she formerly served on the Board of Directors as Secretary. Mrs. Conard is a member of TMEA, ATSSB, TBA, TMAA, Austin Flute Society, and several other professional organizations. She and her husband, Bryce, are VW/Porsche enthusiasts, Godzilla toy collectors, and love to spend time at home with their two cats, Cookie and Millie.
