The Clemson Makerspace has a fabric printer that can print onto light colored fabric, including t-shirts, tote bags, and socks. The machine is very simple and easy to use! However, there is a limit of five prints per person per semester, so that we can ensure access to many people. Please don't plan to print t-shirts for your whole large club! We can offer recommendations on services.
Notice that the examples are all on white fabric. You can print onto other colors but this printer does not have white ink - so any white in the design will be printed as the base color of the fabric. This also means that, while you can print onto darker colored fabrics, it won't be bright.
The fabric printer is located in the Cooper Makerspace, which is on the 5th floor of Cooper Library. The fabric printer is free to use but you must complete online training to be able to use it:
1
Join the Clemson Makerspace Canvas page by clicking here
2
In Canvas, complete the Makerspace's General Safety Training + the General Safety Quiz
3
In Canvas, complete the fabric printer module to learn how to use the machine.
4
Visit Cooper Makerspace when you're ready to print. The fabric printer is located on the long wood table, next to the window.
5
Load your design onto the computer next to the fabric printer. Open the Ricoh Design Software, and walk through the steps from the Canvas training.
Load your fabric onto the trays next to the fabric printer. You'll first print your design, in the top part of the printer, and then heat press it in the bottom part.
