Rising ML II's and ML III's Cadets from different ROTC programs across the country stand in as the Opposing Force, or OPFOR, that play the enemy at Advanced Camp Cadets during different FTXs. Not only are they assisting in training, the Cadets also get a chance to catch a glimpse of what’s in store for them in the coming years at Advanced Camp.
The OPFOR program is approximately 30-days in length and allows Cadets to test their leadership abilities at the Fire Team and Squad levels from troop leading procedures to tactical operations against Advanced Camp Squads and Platoons.
"The time I spent as OPFOR was incredibly valuable. Not only did I spend time in the Area of Operation (AO) and interact with the lane Cadre, but I was given classes on Call for Fire, T-CCC, Land Navigation, and on the M4 & M240B. We then had an opportunity to go to the firing range. As an OPFOR cadet, you are given the 'answers to the test', so that when you come through as an ML III to be assessed, you will succeed."

"Last summer I got to participate in the OPFOR company for Advanced Camp at Fort Knox. It was a great experience where I met a lot of cadets at other schools and had lots of opportunities to be in leadership. During my time at Ft.Knox I was able to practice my land navigation skills as well as my marksenship abilities which has improved my confidence in preparation for my own advanced training."
