1B. downloading e-books 

(1) まずは中央大学図書館ホームページにアクセスしてください。

First go to the Chuo University Library homepage.

(2) 下にスクロールして「データベースリスト」をクリック。

Scroll down and click on Databases.

以下の「データベースリスト」から、新聞、法律の学術誌、英語学習リソースなどを含む、数多くのデータベースがアクセスできます。 

You will be able to access numerous electronic databases from this page, including those for newspapers, law journals, and English study resources.

(3) データベースリストから「5. 電子ブック(図書全文情報) 」の「Maruzen eBook Library」に入ってみましょう。

Scroll down the Database List and click on the Maruzen eBook Library under the sub-heading 5. 電子ブック(図書全文情報).

(4) 電子書籍コレクションが5つありますが、今回は「MACMILLAN READERS」をクリックしてください。（また時間がある時に他のコレクションも見てください。）

When you see the page on the right, click on MACMILLAN READERS.  (The focus here is on Macmillan Readers, but you can use the same process for Cambridge Discovery Readers or Cengage Pageturners.)

(5) 総合認証ID及びパスワード（「manaba」や「C plus」にログインする際に用いるもの）を入力して、「学認アカウントをお持ちの方はこちら」をクリックしてください。。

Enter your Chuo ID and password (what you use for manaba and C plus), and click on the large blue button （学認アカウントをお持ちの方はこちら).

(6) 次の画面「所属機関の選択」では、「中央大学」を入力またはリストから選択してください。

On the next screen, type in or select: Chuo University.

(7) ここで、「中央大学 Web Single Sign On System」のページに繋がります。（既にログインが済んでいる場合は自動的に次の画面に進みます。）入学時に与えられた、総合認証IDとパスワード（「manaba」や「C plus」にログインする際に用いるIDとパスワード）を入力して、ログインしてください。

You will be connected to the Chuo University Web Single Sign on System page. (If you are already signed in, you will automatically be taken to the next page.) Enter your Chuo ID and password.

(8）120以上の電子書籍から選べる、Macmillan Readersシリーズのページです。ここに含まれているタイトルは、読者の英語レベルに応じて難易度が6段階に分かれています。自分に合っているレベルのE-bookを選んでください。

On this page, you will find over 120 titles of novels written in English. The novels are divided into 6 levels of English, from Starter Level to Upper Intermediate Level. Choose a level that you are comfortable with, but will still provide you with a challenge.

(9）次に、選んだE-bookをダウンロードして、使用している端末（PC、スマホなど）に保存してください。まず、「閲覧」をクリックしてください。（ネット上での閲覧は一度に一名までに制限されているため、E-bookを開けないことがあります。開けない場合は、少し待ってから再度ためしてみてください。）

Once you have chosen an E-book to read, download it to the device you are using (PC, Smartphone, etc.). First, click on the yellow [閲覧 ] button. (E-books cannot be accessed by more than one Chuo reader at a time. If an E-book does not open, please try again a little later.)

(10）E-bookが開かれたら、以下の手順でダウンロードしてください/ Once the e-book page opens, take the following steps：

① 選んだ本の総ページ数を覚えておいてください。Remember the total number of pages in the book (21 in the screenshot on the right).

②「印刷」をクリックしてください。Next, click "Print."

③ ご利用条件をよくお読みになり、「実行」ボタンをクリックしてください。Please read the terms of use carefully, then click the "Continue" button.

④ 開いたダイアログボックスに、中央大学のg.mailアドレスを入力します。次に中央大学g.mailアドレスが「ダウンロードに使用するメールアドレス」であることを確認します。In the dialog box that opens, enter your Chuo University g.mail address, and confirm it.

⑤「利用目的」、「プライバシーポリシー」、「ダウンロードに使用するメールアドレス」及び「禁止事項」に同意しました。を選択してください。Check the box to show that you accept conditions for "Purpose of Use", "Privacy Policy", "E-mail address used for downloading" and "Prohibitions."

⑥「送 信」ボタンをクリックしてください。Click the "Send" button.

⑦ 認証コードについては、中央大学の g.mail を確認してください。Find the authorisation code that is sent to your Chuo g.mail address.

⑧ メールに記載された認証コードを入力してください +「送 信」ボタンをクリックしてください。開いたダイアログボックスに、「現在ページを含む」をクリック、さらにE-bookのページ数を入力（画像のE-bookは21ページあるため「21」と入力）。Type in the authorisation code, then click the "Send" button. In the dialog box that opens, click "Include current page" and enter the number of pages of the e-book (The e-book in the image has 21 pages, so you would enter "21").

⑨ 書籍は、PDFファイルとしてダウンロードされます。このPDFはパスワードで保護されています。パスワードに中央ジーメールのアドレスを入力すると、PDFファイルを開くことができます。他の方も同じE-bookをアクセスできるように、ダウンロードが終わったらネット上の閲覧ページを閉じてください。ネット上で長時間の閲覧はしないでください。The book will download as a password-protected PDF file. You can open the PDF file by entering your Chuo gmail address as the password. And so that other people can access the same e-book, please close the online browsing page after downloading the book. Be careful not to browse online for long periods of time.
