It is a service that uses a technology called Virtual Private Network (VPN) which allows you to access the University network from home or overseas as if you were on campus. It enables your computer to access the databases limited to the University network, and to use the services.
※Note
Some databases provided by the Chuo University Library are not available on the Chuo University SSL-VPN connection.

・Faculty members
・Professor Emeritus who has the Integrated Authentication account issued by the library.
・Full-time staff
・Graduate students (including professional graduate students)
・Undergraduate students (except students of the Distance Learning Division, auditing students and Non-Degree-Seeking Students. Please contact the library for details.)
・Please use it for the purpose of research and education activities.
・Use for the purpose of exposing personal information, slander, libel, or mischief is prohibited.
・Use for the purpose of attacking various systems is prohibited.
・The act of snooping, eavesdropping, or tampering with communications or information recorded on servers (e.g., web) is prohibited.
・Transmission of spam email is prohibited.
・Transmission of computer viruses is prohibited.
・Please take anti-virus measures to protect your computer connected to the VPN.
[How to Use the Service from March 19, 2026]
To use the new system, you will need your Integrated Authentication Account and University Email Account, and you must also install the new dedicated VPN client software on your computer.
Your Unified Authentication Account is provided during freshman orientation, at the time of employment, or on similar occasions.

After connecting to the SSL-VPN, you will be able to use the various services.
If you wish to use the library databases, please select the database you want to use from the database list marked “VPN.”
[How to Use the Service until March 31, 2026]
To use the service, you will need your Unified Authentication Account and must install the dedicated VPN client software on your computer.
The Unified Authentication Account is distributed during orientation for new students or upon employment. (For more details, please refer to this page.)
Please refer to the manuals below for instructions on installing the VPN client software.
Note: You will need to log in with your university email address to view the manuals.
Note: For emeritus professors, the manuals are distributed by the Library Administration Division. If you do not have a copy, please contact the library.

VPN Connection Manual for Windows (Windows 11)
If installation fails, please check whether your device is an ARM version.
Go to: Settings > System > About, and check "System Type" under "Device Specifications". If it says "ARM-based processor", it is an ARM version.
If so, please contact the Tama IT Center Support Desk.
