都市のさまざまな社会経済問題を経済学の分野から見ることによって、多角的な議論を行います。たとえば、以下のような問題を議論します。

(1) 成長している都市や衰退している都市があるが、なぜか、そしてどのような地域間貿易や都市地域政策が望ましいか。

(2) 東京のような大都市はなぜ所得が高いのか？　所得は高くても、大都市は新型コロナで最も打撃を受けている。それでは、どのような都市を計画していくべきか。

(3) 東京では家賃や住宅価格が高いが、なぜか。また、交通混雑が激しいが、それではどのような都市政策が望ましいか。

We diversely discuss on urban and regional problems from an economic point of view. For example, we discuss the following issues.

(1) Why do some cities grow whereas others decline? What are desirable interregional trade and urban-regional policies?

(2) Why is the income high in large cities like Tokyo? Large cities are vulnerable to attacks by COVID-19. Then, what kind of cities should we plan?

(3) Why are the housing rent and price high in Tokyo? Traffic congestion is serious in Tokyo. Then, what is a desirable urban policy?
