The origin of ramen is not known for certain but the most credible theory, according to historians, is that ramen was brought to Japan by Chinese immigrants residing in Yokohama's Chinatown in the late 19th or early 20th century. According to the Yokohama Ramen Museum's records, ramen originated in China and arrived in Japan around 1859.
