In my classroom, the whole student is loved and cared for. It's a place where students are challenged to grow and exercise their minds, to follow in the footsteps of those who have gone before and reach for the stars. They learn to love learning and engaging with each other and the communities they are a part of.

I continuously choose to be an educator because I care for each child that will enter my classroom and the futures they will go on to make for themselves, their communities and the world. At school, students engage in rigorous academic learning, but they also do so much more. They learn how to work through their emotions in a healthy manner, how to build positive relationships and work through conflicts, and how to behave constructively as they grow into responsible and caring citizens. School is where students build a huge part of the foundation for their lives. From learning organizational skills to understanding the value of hard work and persistence, the student looks to the teacher as advocate and facilitator of knowledge, a positive role-model and a leader. It is a responsibility I do not take lightly.

I love teaching, even on the hard days. Every day brings opportunities for me to be a positive influence in the lives of my students.
