Classroom Visits

Once per month, each class receives one classroom counseling visit/lesson.  The counseling curriculum in the Fort Zumwalt School District is based on the American School Counseling Association standards as well as The Missouri School Counseling grade-level expectations, aligned with Missouri State standards. Because we are a Leader In Me school, each of The 7 Habits of Happy Kids are incorporated in each lesson. When we adopted new curriculum we wrote in an emphasis on teaching Executive Functioning Skills as well.  Students may access lessons below.  By the end of September, all students will be/have been added to my Canvas Course and can access their lessons and other tools from there (and you can see all of the lessons I teach in the classrooms...please do not hesitate to reach out if you ever have questions).  Please see the email that was sent at the beginning of the school year about login information from home (this included your child's user name and password). https://fz.instructure.com/login/canvas - Directions for how to become an observer

After most lessons, students will return home with a form we have completed together in class.  This is a way for you to see what was taught and reinforce the topics discussed at school, at home, as well.  If your child returns home with something incomplete, please take some time to complete it with him/her at home for some good family discussion.  Since I only visit once per month for 30 minutes, we don't always have time to perfect everything before it goes home.  The discussions the students have while I'm in the room are truly valuable to their social/emotional growth. I appreciate your support and look forward to seeing your child grow this year.
