All of these groups are considered to be equal in great abilities and quality music literature. There is no “low” group. Each student will find the rehearsals both challenging and fun and the performances very rewarding. A main thread of WHS Choir educational philosophy is to have fun through achievement. The hope is that we all maintain that from the first day of school to the last.
This choir is a non-auditioned group that has stood as an example for treble choirs in our area. We will be tackling some of the more challenging and fun music of the year. We will be also singing at a state contest.
This group is a fun yet intensive choir for guys who want to sing less contest oriented music and more relaxed styles including Doo Wop. I am so proud of this group’s growth every year. WE CAN ALWAYS USE MORE GUYS. So tell your friends and send them in! We would love to welcome them to our choir family!
This choir will be daily encouraged and pushed to achieve the highest possible academic music. This “varsity” level music is to be used in a judging and contest setting.
J&M consists of 2 to 4 singers per part. This group will do approximately 90% vocal jazz and 10% classical repertoire. This ensemble is different and makes West stand out from other high schools as a model for quality jazz.
LJE is a semester class that will join Concert Choir second semester. It is on the schedules as “Chamber-Sem.“ It consists of 3 to 5 singers per part. This group is unusual for the area and sings high quality treble vocal jazz. They will also sing on Jazz Night, which includes J&M and the Jazz Band.
