What is Engineering Drawing?
Engineering drawing is a technical drawing used to define engineered items.
It communicates views, dimensions, and necessary information in a graphical language.
It helps transfer ideas from engineers to workers who manufacture parts.
Used in shipbuilding, automobile aerodynamics, construction, and more.
Drawing board: Rectangular wooden board with a smooth surface for holding drawing paper.
Drawing paper: Should be smaller than the board; fixed using pins or clips.
Pencils: Grades H, 2H, HB are used for accuracy in drawings.
T-square: Used for drawing horizontal straight lines.
Set square: Triangular tool used with a T-square to draw angled lines (30°-60°-90° and 45°-45°-90°).
Scale: Used for measuring and drawing lines of specific lengths.
Protractor: Semicircular tool used to measure and draw angles.
Drafter: Combination of T-square, set square, protractor, and scale for precise drawing.
Roller scale: Used for drawing parallel lines, angles, and circles.
French curves: Used for drawing irregular curves like ellipses and hyperbolas.
Compass: Used for drawing circles and arcs of specific radii.
Eraser: Removes pencil marks without damaging the paper.
