Welcome to my portfolio. I look forward to sharing with you my two-year journey in becoming an FVS Global Scholar. This site includes my project and overview, reflections, and formal academic work which cumulatively fulfilled the requirements of this unique Fountain Valley program. I produced a three-podcasts series named Nutrition, Land, & Money that you can find below.
Food and climate insecurity are overlooked globally. Food systems today account for over forty percent of global greenhouse gas emissions and use almost three-quarters of the world’s ice-free land; yet, as of 2020, 6/7 people have a food-related diet issue. By shifting the consumption of meat towards a plant-based diet the challenges of diet-related disease and soil degradation can be fixed. The utilization of sustainable farming practices with pea plants such as crop rotation, and selective breeding not only improves yields and nutritional content but can also restore damaged soils, sequester carbon, and aid in the transition to plant-based diets all while being economically feasible.
