Hello Warm Springs Families,
I hope everyone is settling into the new school year! I want to start by expressing my gratitude for the wonderful beginning we've had. Thank you for reading and following the directions we sent before school started; it’s made the transition back to school so smooth.
We had a fantastic PBIS Kickoff Assembly this week month! The students were fully engaged as we reviewed our walking rules and expectations around campus, helping ensure a safe and respectful environment for everyone.
**Student Council applications** will be going out this week. Encourage your children to get involved—it’s a wonderful opportunity for leadership and community building. We are also looking forward to **Start with Hello Week** during the week of September 15, where we’ll focus on creating a culture of kindness and inclusion throughout the school. Please see Mrs. Brown's information on this here.
Mark your calendars for Fall Picture Day on September 16!
I’m also excited to share that our Prop 28 Art Lessons will begin this month, bringing wonderful creative opportunities for all of our students.
We’re happy to announce that afterschool band will be offered again this year. More details will be shared soon once the program is finalized with Mr. Benevides, our fantastic band instructor from Irvington High School.
Finally, if your child is interested in trying out for the upcoming basketball season, please review the information below and, most importantly, schedule your child’s physical as soon as possible. Students will not be able to try out without a completed physical, and unfortunately, no exceptions can be made. Our awesome returning coaches this year are Ms. Casey and Mr. Shiramizu.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support in making Warm Springs such a wonderful place for students to learn and grow.
In partnership,
Scott Iwata
Principal
We do not send messages to students as this disrupts instruction. If you forgot to tell your child something, please email their teacher. Horner Middle School, follows this same protocol. For drop off items, please remember we only accept medication and glasses. We provide free lunch if needed and we have filtered water as well as emergency water, in all classrooms. We do not accept homework, projects, lunches, etc.
In order to preserve valuable instruction time, please make appointments for your student before or after school hours when possible. Not only are they missing instruction time but it is also disruptive to the rest of the class when the teacher is interrupted by your student's early dismissal. However, if you need to pick up your student, please be mindful of the bell schedule. Once all of the students are dismissed for recess or lunch, it is unsafe to have one of our supervisors leave their area unsupervised to find a student that is being picked up. For the safety of all of our students, please pick your student up either before or after the recess or lunch periods. Be sure to also informed your teacher. Thank you for your cooperation.
If you are having problems logging into your Student's Google Account please follow these instructions provided by our Computer Specialist, Mr. Andronic.
Warm Springs participates in girls & boys basketball. 5th-grade students are able to try out for the teams. Due to the large amount of 5th grade classes we have, we are not able to have 3rd or 4th graders try out.
If your student is interested in trying out for the 2025 - 2026 Warm Springs Basketball Team, they will need to submit a Preparticipation Physical Evaluation form prior to trying out. A physician will need to complete this form. Please plan ahead as medical appointments tend to take awhile to obtain. Once completed, keep the forms at home. Information on when to turn in these forms will be posted in the October or November Parent Newsletter.
Don't forget to have your students check the Lost and Found clothing rack if they have misplaced any of their belongings. It is located outside the kitchen of the office building. All unclaimed items will be donated to local charities during the school breaks.
To help recover lost items, be sure to write your student’s first and last name inside their items (jackets, lunch boxes, umbrellas, hats, etc.) if there’s a possibility of it being lost. Either write your student’s name with a permanent marker or on a piece of tape to place on their items. Items found with names on them will be returned to their owners.
Please make sure to visit Mrs. Browns webpage for all Counselor related information.

This will be the second year we are partnering with MSJ Rotary and Ohlone College to offer this to FUSD students. Please note - interested students need only complete the Google Form linked to the QR code to enter - only those chosen to go to 'faire' need to take the next steps and create a prototype. Last year, our inaugural year, the 3D Challenge was open to grades 6-12. There were 191 team submissions across the district, 30 finalists, and 3 winning teams.
This year the Young Innovators STEM component has been added for grades 3-6 sponsored by Young Gates in conjunction with the 3D Challenge.
This year there will be 40 finalists chosen to present their prototypes at the showcase-Maker Faire - 30 for 3D and 10 for Young Innovators. There will be four cash awards presented by MSJ Rotary on March 7, 2026 at Ohlone Newark.
