Walters counselors collaborate with teachers, families and staff to support students with their social emotional wellbeing. Some of the social emotional support at Walters includes:
Individual counseling meetings and check-ins
Crisis Counseling
Short term group counseling
Conflict mediations and restorative conversations between students
Assistance with referrals to outside mental health resources
Wellness Center at lunchtime
The Walters Wellness Center is a calming space where students are able to participate in de-stressing activities such as:
Relaxing music
Coloring
Building blocks
Legos
Sand tray
Fidgets
Massage chairs
Wellness reading materials
Games
Water painting
The Wellness Center is open to students during lunch with the following schedule:
Tuesdays (6th), Wednesdays (7th), Thursdays (8th) and Fridays (All Grades)
In order to attend the Wellness Center, students must pick up a ticket from a staff member at the gate near room 39 during lunch.
Youth and Family Services (YFS): Provides individual and family counseling services. Medi-Cal insurance accepted and affordable fees are offered.
YFS Tools for Change: A Workshop for Parents and Caregivers of Adolescents
Fremont Resource Center (FRC): A center with a variety of agencies that provide resources for families such as food assistance, financial assistance and affordable housing resources
Student Transit Pass Application: The Alameda County Transportation Commission allows eligible students to use their local transit system for free as a way to get to and from school. Eligible students will receive a Clipper Card to travel on the AC transit bus.
