Playground Rules & Expectations

Recess Soccer Rules

1) Both teams should be about equal in numbers and ability. Putting all skilled players onto one team is NOT allowed. 

2) Each team may have one goalie which can use their hands to protect their goal. All other players may only use their feet to move the ball during the game. 

3) If the ball leaves the field, one player must retrieve the ball and throw it back into play. 

4) Pushing and tripping are not allowed. Focus on getting the ball with your feet. 

5) Game ends as soon as the bell rings. 

Recess 4-Square Rules

1) The 4th square is the server square. 

2) All players must enter the game in the 1st square. 

3) Players must bounce the ball in their own square before making it hit another player’s square. (No skipping) 

4) The ball may bounce only one time in your square before contacting the ball. (No Doubles) 

5) Once you hit the ball into your square, it must land in another player’s square. (No out of squares) 

6) No hitting the ball with any body part other than hands or arms. (No kicking) 

7) First person in line is the line judge. They should judge the round fairly and must pay attention to the game to make the most fair call. 

8) If they are not sure who should be out, they can call “blind judge” which allows the round to be replayed.
