Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS) is an instructional behavioral framework. It is grounded in a continuum of evidence-based practices that are used consistently school-wide, for all students by all staff. When schoolwide interventions and strategies are implemented with fidelity; unwanted behaviors are prevented, pro-social skills are taught, and new skills are reinforced.
“All kids get what they need, but some kids need a little extra, a few kids need something that’s a little more individualized, students who feel invested in their school community are less likely to harm it.”
(George Sugai, Ph.D., UConn, PBIS Senior Advisor)
Positive school culture work is putting systems and practices in place to support and teach desired behaviors. PBIS provides MSJE with the systems and practices to communicate effectively and teach desired behaviors while improving school culture.
