Hello Mission San Jose Elementary Families,
It is hard to believe we are nearly finished with the 2nd trimester of the school year. I continue to be incredibly proud of MSJE students and staff as they have resiliently persevered through this school year, despite the many new challenges we have all had to endure. At MSJE and throughout FUSD, safety continues to be our number one concern throughout the Covid 19 pandemic. As we have now experienced a rapid decrease in positive Covid cases, we are thrilled to be able to welcome volunteers back on campus (see details below). Any other future updates regarding safety protocols will be promptly shared with families.
On Wednesday, March 2, we will be celebrating Read Across America Day. Students are welcome to dress in their pajamas and may engage in special reading/literacy activities in classes. I encourage all families to continue the celebration at home by finding opportunities to read together.
Wishing you all a happy and healthy start of Spring.

Congratulations to Mrs. Krista Krishna for being selected as MSJE's 2022 Teacher of the Year! Although it was most difficult to choose just one teacher to represent MSJE, it is clear that Mrs. Krishna exemplifies "Teacher-of-the-Year." In 2021-2022, Mrs. Krishna has worked tirelessly to support staff and students. When not engaging with her own 2nd graders, she is busy supporting MSJE by wearing many other hats. This year alone, Mrs. Krishna has served as MSJE's COST (Coordination of Services Team) coordinator, School Site Council Member, and FUDTA representative... and... perhaps the best hats that Mrs. Krishna wears are the glittery, sparkly, and colorful ones that make our MSJE Spirit days so much fun! Without a doubt, Mrs. Krishna puts her whole heart into every day of being a teacher.
We are thrilled to announce that MSJE 5th grader Kasen Z. has won 1st place in the FUSD Young Authors Contest with his submission, Pillow Boy. Thank you,

Greetings MSJE Families,
I’d like to take this opportunity to appreciate your support with the Kids Heart Challenge. Together, we raised $9,297 which exceeded our goal of $3,225. These funds will help save 168 lives. As we reflect on this challenge, we learned that physical and emotional wellness are key components of our overall health.
As we move into March, it’s important for us to continue to focus on wellness to keep our bodies feeling happy and healthy. During the week of March 21-25, students will have the opportunity to participate in a Wellness Challenge. This week will focus on promoting health and wellness. Each day, students can select from a list of activities to complete and ask for parent signatures. There will be prizes provided for participation.
This month’s character trait is PROBLEM SOLVING. At school, it is important for students to solve problems in a safe and peaceful manner. Over the next month, opportunities will be created for students to consider the best approach to solving problems. At home, we encourage families to reinforce the importance of working together to resolve conflicts and improve relationships. Here is a list of books available at our school library that you could read with your child.
Best Regards,
Ko Vue

Hello MSJE Parents,
Our Parent Teacher Committee has a rich tradition of successfully supporting the school through volunteering from dedicated parents like you. Please come, join the PTC and get involved to the benefit of your children and their classrooms. Your help and participation will make the MSJE academic and personal growth experience for our little ones that we all want it to be.
There are so many different ways to volunteer and we encourage every parent to find some way to participate, however, it may work best for you and your family. Even if you could give as little as ONE hour of your time per month, it will make a huge difference.
For more information and to find out how to be involved in a way that works for you, please click here. Additionally, volunteer sign up links will be listed on our PTC website throughout the year. If you have any questions, email the PTC at msjeptcexecboard@gmail.com.
Please help us continue to make MSJE an amazing experience by giving your time. It will have a huge impact on students’ lives.
Thank you in advance for your help!
