We are thrilled to welcome parent volunteers for the 2023-2024 school year!
We require that all MSJE volunteers:
have pre-approval of the teacher/principal
sign in and out at the office
wear a visitor badge at all times
submit an application through CiviCore
Volunteers who are transporting students must submit proof of insurance
CiviCore applications are good for 1 year and all FUSD children (even if at different schools)
Science Camp chaperone volunteers who are independently supervising students must also undergo fingerprinting and a background check.

2023-2024 Bell Schedule / Minimum Days

Minimum Days:
1st-5th grade dismissal at 1:30 PM: 8/16, 8/17, 8/18, 10/31, 11/13, 11/14, 11/15, 11/16, 11/17, 12/22, 5/28, 5/29, 5/30, 5/31 (dismissal at 12:20)
Kinder & SDC TK/Kinder dismissal at 11:40 AM: 8/16 through 9/8, every Wednesday
Office Business and Visitor Policy
When possible our office staff prefers to support parents and families via email or phone. Please be sure your child(ren) has all of their belongings (backpack, lunch, water bottle, etc) upon school arrival. Our office will not accept any late drop-offs of lunches, water bottles, or other items.
All volunteers/visitors must be pre-approved by the teacher and principal. All volunteers/visitors must check in at the office prior to going into a classroom.
Have You Moved?
Please complete and email the Change of Address Form along with 2 residency proofs of your new address to our School Secretary for processing.
If you are moving across town or changing apartment numbers, FUSD Board Policy states the family must inform the school within 5 days of your moving date or of any change in circumstance which would affect their student’s residency (AR 5111.1).
Please be sure to reach out to our office if you have moved recently so that the we can maintain accurate records and you receive all mailing for the 23-24 school year.
Communication from School
Fremont Unified is excited to launch ParentSquare, a unified platform that allows the District, schools, and teachers to communicate and engage with families and our community more effectively. Parents/Guardians will receive an activation email for their ParentSquare account before the start of school to gain access to a variety of features and tools. Those who do not register will still receive text, email, and phone notifications.
School communication may also include email, phone, and other communication apps utilized by staff. Be sure to update your email in the online MAZE day forms to receive important communication from the school. Please access our web page at fremontunified.org/msje to find the school calendar, schedule, and important announcements. Newsletters are emailed and posted online monthly.
Breakfast, Lunch, and Water Bottles
Free breakfast is available for students on school days from 7:45-8:15 AM in the multi-use room. Lunch will continue to be free for the 2023-2024 school year. Students may also bring lunch from home. Students will eat lunch at designated times according to the 2023-2024 MSJE Bell Schedule. Students should bring a pre-filled water bottle to school daily. Students may refill water bottles at our refilling station as needed. No lunches or water bottles (or school materials) are permitted to be dropped off after the start of the school day. Students who forget to bring lunch may receive a free school lunch.

Cell Phone / Smart Watch Policy and Agreement
Will your students be bringing a cell phone or Smart Watch to school this year?
Cell phones/Smart Watches may be brought to school for safety purposes and students must follow the following guidelines:
Cell phone/Smart Watch must be turned off between 8:20 AM and 2:40 PM.
Cell phone must be kept in the student’s backpack.
Cell phones/Smart Watches will not be loaned to another student.
Cell phones are used to make a phone call for a ride only. It is not allowed to take pictures, listen to music, call friends, etc.
The school is not responsible if the cell phone/Smart Watch is lost or damaged. Students who use cell phones/Smart Watches at any time during the instructional day shall be subject to the following progressive discipline procedures:
First Offense: the cell phone/Smart Watch will be confiscated and sent to the office with a referral slip. Parents will be called to pick up the cell phone.
Subsequent offense(s) - (defiance): Additional parent contact and more severe disciplinary action including but not limited to suspension.
Parents must provide a written request (MSJE Cell Phone / Smart Watch Agreement Form) to the school for a student to carry a cell phone/Smart Watch. By filling out this form, students and parent/guardian is agreeing to the MSJE cell phone policy.
Drop off & Pick-up Reminders
Morning drop begins at 8:05. When dropping off and picking up students on Bryant street, please note these reminders to ensure safety for all:
Please be courteous of the neighbors that surround our school. Do not block driveways or mailboxes, and do not move neighbors' trash cans to park your car.
Stay in your car when in the pick-up/drop-off zone on the school side of Bryant Street.
Be slow and cautious when pulling forward.
Please watch your speed when driving on all neighborhood streets.
No left turn on Cedar Street, 8:05 - 8:20 and 2:40 - 3:00 PM.
All students should exit the car on the right side.
Students should keep their backpacks and other items in the car, not in the trunk
No U-turns on Bryant Street
Cross only at designated crosswalks. Please, no jaywalking.
Recommended drop-off time is 8:05-8:15 AM (students are at risk of being tardy if they arrive later than 8:15)
At 8:18 when the warning bell rings, students must WALK to class.
Health Guidance
The California Department of Public Health released updated guidance on when a student should stay home from school, it is available in English, Spanish, Chinese, and additional languages here. Please refer to this guidance when a student has symptoms of illness, including: cough, stuffy/runny nose, fever, vomiting, diarrhea, sore throat, ear/eye irritation, and/or rash.
