In Math, we will focus on using multiplication and division facts to solve simple as well as multi-step word problems. We will dive into Geometry and the attributes of various polygons. We will also learn to apply basic algebraic principles in problem-solving.

We will be teaching math using whole group, and small group instruction. Math assessments will be given online using ThinkCentral. It is important for our instruction that students complete these assessments to the best of their abilities independently. Parents, please do not correct or go over any assessment problems with your student, unless it is after the assessment has been graded.

During Mathematics, we will learn several math concepts:

  • Represent and solve problems involving multiplication and division.

  • Understand the properties of multiplication and the relationship between multiplication and division.

  • Multiply and Divide within 100.

  • Solve problems involving the four operations, and identify and explain patterns in arithmetic.

  • Use place value understanding and properties of operations to perform multi-digit arithmetic.

  • Develop an understanding of fractions as numbers.

  • Represent and interpret data.

  • Geometric measurement: understand concepts of area to multiplication and to addition.

  • Reason with shapes and their attributes.
