How to setup MFA

Instructions for setting up MFA (Multi Format Authentication) on your email account.

Fulneck School uses MFA on your Microsoft account to protect your identity and stop others gaining access to your documents if your password is compromised.

• Visit the school email site as normal and enter your school credentials. https://outlook.office365.com/owa

After you have entered your password, you will be prompted to set up additional security to access your account. You only need to set this up once.

• Click Set It Up Now

The additional security verification page allows you to choose which method you want to use to verify your identity.

The first option on the drop down is Authentication Phone. This will either call or text you a 6 digit number to access your account.

The second option on the drop down uses the Microsoft Authenticator App to verify, this is useful if you are in a bad signal area and may struggle to receive a text message.

When this is setup, you will receive a prompt popup when you try to sign in to your school emails. I use this method.

The below screen shows me choosing the mobile method to authenticate, after I typed in my mobile number I received a 6 digit code to prove my identity.
