Catja Christensen was born and raised in the Northern Virginia suburbs of Washington D.C. She trained in classical ballet in her youth, studying in the pre-professional training program at The Washington School of Ballet. Additionally, she participated in the Kennedy Center Master Class Series for three years and attended the Ballet Chicago, Suzanne Farrell, and Washington Ballet summer intensives.
She double majored in Dance and English at Connecticut College, graduating magna cum laude in 2023. While at Conn, Catja danced in student and faculty works, choreographed, and participated in a dance research trip to Ghana in March 2023, where she trained with dance troupes around the country.
Now, she lives in London and is pursuing a MRes in Dance Choreography and Performance. Additionally, Catja is an avid dance writer and journalist, having published work in Pointe Magazine, The Oslo Desk, The College Voice, and thINKingDANCE. She also interned with Final Bow for Yellowface in 2021.
