Ever feel torn between your head and your heart? You're not alone. When you're stressed, overwhelmed, or making a big decision, it’s easy to get stuck in one of two extremes:
Logic Brain (Reasonable Mind): "Just suck it up and get over it."
Emotion Brain (Emotional Mind): "This is the worst day of my life. I can’t deal with this!"
But there’s a third option, and it’s your most powerful one:
✨ WISE MIND ✨
It’s the balanced part of your mind where emotion and logic work together. Wise Mind helps you respond, not just react. It’s where your inner calm and clarity live.
How Do I Know I’m in Wise Mind? You’re probably using Wise Mind when:✅ You take a deep breath before responding to a stressful situation✅ You recognize your feelings and think through your actions✅ You make choices that feel true to who you are, even when emotions are high✅ You respond with kindness to yourself and others, even when things are hard.
Try This: Finding Your Wise Mind in the Moment
1.Pause.
2.Take a breath. You don’t have to respond right away.
3.Name what’s going on.
4.➤ “I’m feeling anxious about this test.”
5.➤ “Part of me wants to shut down, but I know I need toprepare.”
6.Ask yourself:
7.💬 “What would my Wise Mind say or do right now?”
8.(Hint: It’s probably calm, clear, and kind, not panicked orrobotic.)
9.Respond with intention.
10.You might choose to take a break, ask for help, or challenge an unhelpful thought.
Example:
Emotion Mind says: “I’m so bad at this, I should just give up.”
Reasonable Mind says: “You just need to study more. Noexcuses.”
Wise Mind says: “This is hard and I’m capable of learning. I’llstart with one small step.”
