Month of the Military Child Spirit Days

STATE TESTING aka CAASPP Test

Dear San Onofre 3rd-8th Grade Families,

Starting May 5, 2025, our students will take the CAASPP(CA Assessment of Student Performance and Progress) which measures their skills in English Language Arts and Mathematics. The results provide valuable feedback to parents and teachers about student progress. We use this data to guide student placement, support, and instructional planning for the next school year.  San Clemente High School also uses these scores to determine course placement for incoming students.

It’s important that each student takes the test and gives their best effort. While testing can be stressful for some, we provide support to help students succeed. Strong test-taking skills prepare all students for future opportunities, whether it’s college, getting a driver’s license, or applying for jobs that require assessments.

To prepare, students have completed challenging practice sessions throughout the year. These sessions are often more difficult than the actual test, so most students find the CAASPP easier in comparison. Your child is well-prepared and ready for success.

We strongly encourage all students to take the test.  If more than 5% of students opt out, our school and district will be severely penalized.  If you are considering opting your child out of testing, please schedule a meeting with Mrs. Newman and/or Mr. Kniseley to discuss your concerns.
