All seniors and their parents should be preparing to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), in order to be eligible for need based financial aid. The FAFSA is available as of October 1st, and it must be completed by April 15th. Many colleges have an earlier deadline in order for students to be eligible for all financial aid possibilities.
The website for the FAFSA is https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa. The FAFSA is required for students to be considered for federal and state grants, loans and scholarships at most colleges, universities and vocational/technical schools nationwide.
College Goal Sunday is a free program that is designed to assist Indiana students seeking undergraduate admission to a college or technical school in completing the FAFSA. In one afternoon at College Goal Sunday, students and their families can get free help and complete the FAFSA online. Each school year, College Goal Sunday is offered on two separate dates–one in November and one in February. For more information about College Goal Sunday, visit the website at www.collegegoalsunday.org.

The Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the most important document for determining if you’re eligible for financial aid — money to help you pay for education and training beyond high school. The easiest way to file the FAFSA is online at FAFSA.gov.
After you file your FAFSA, your college will be able to tell you which scholarships and grants you could receive as well as how much money you can borrow in federal loans. To find out more about the FAFSA, including what kinds of state financial aid is available, check out Learn More Indiana’s FAFSA guide for Hoosiers.

College Entrance Test Info and Test Prep:
The Franklin Central High School counseling office encourages all students who plan to attend college to take the ACT and the SAT during their junior year. Colleges will accept students’ highest scores from either the SAT or ACT. Students can retake either test during their senior year, but students need to keep in mind deadlines to receive test scores that are set by colleges. Students register and pay for these tests directly through the test websites, and the registration deadline for each test is about a month in advance of the test date. Students who are on free/reduced lunch may receive one fee waiver from their counselor for both the SAT and ACT during both their junior and senior year. A comparison chart of the ACT and SAT and specific test dates and registration deadlines can be found below.

Test Prep Options
The following link is a list of different SAT and ACT test prep options. Franklin Central High School does not endorse or prefer any specific test prep option. Statistically, students do not improve test scores from one test to the next without some sort of additional test preparation. Franklin Central encourages families to consider all options based on time and affordability.
