One Semester. Open to students in grades 12. This course focuses on how to cook for one whether in the dorm or in an apartment. Topics such as food costing, microwave cooking, nutrition, and menu planning are just a handful of the relevant content students will learn. If your looking forward to life after high school and want to learn ways to feed yourself that will save you time and money, then this is the course for you!
One Semester. Open to students in grades 10-12 who have taken and passed Foods 1 with a C or better. This class builds on the basics learned in Culinary Foods 1 and offers more advanced cooking recipes and techniques with content such as knife skills, industry standards, yeast breads, pastries, pasta & rice, soups & sauces, herbs and spices, and appetizers. This class will provide many "hands on" experiences from food labs and interactive lessons as well as give students an industry standard certification through the eFoodhandler Montana course.
One Semester. Open to students in grades 11-12 who have taken Foods 1 & Foods 2 and have passed both with a C or better. In this course, students will complete their ServSafe Foodhandler's certification which is the gold standard in the food service industry. Units in food science, plating & garnishing, industry standards, chocolate, advanced pastry, catering, cake decorating, cooking elements, and a food truck competition are also covered in this course.
*Students will also have the opportunity to receive real world experience by learning how to make specialty drinks by working various jobs at the Culinary Coffee Cart in the mornings before school.
Textiles and Apparel 1 introduces students basic sewing skills and to apply the skills to various projects. Basic use of the sewing machine and hand sewing skills will be used. Students will be exposed to pattern selection, layout, and measuring skills alongside consideration of industry trends driven by consumer choices.
