Mr. Justyn Keller
Hello there! I'm Justyn Keller, but for many, simply "Keller" is how I am referred. Anyhow, I'm the one who will be guiding your student through the thrilling world of middle school math at Blind Middle School. From Grade 6 to Pre-Algebra, I've got it all covered! Plus, I throw in "Intensive Mathematics" refreshers, higher-level critical-thinking extensions, and teach Nemeth for those needing support with the math braille code. If your student needs a little extra help, I'm also here for high school and college-level math assistance.
This year marks my sixth year teaching at the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind, and I've got three additional years of experience as the teacher of record (9 years total) in the Blind Middle School. In addition to math, I’ve had a brief adventure teaching English-Language Arts and Science, but my heart is most at home with supporting our visually impaired students in the very visual world of mathematics.
My knowledge of educating the blind extends well beyond just 9 years. Growing up in Tallahassee (Go Noles!) and South Georgia was a blast, but life had a surprising twist that sent me to St. Augustine. I arrived at FSDB in 2004, feeling a bit lost, but thanks to the incredible community of educators, I found my wings and soared again. I'm a proud alumnus of this amazing school (Class of 2006), and I'm thrilled to give back to the community that helped me find my way!
When I'm not in the classroom, I'm coaching the girl's goalball team and have previously coached boy's goalball and wrestling. I also sponsor awesome extracurriculars like NEXT (Navigation, Exploration, and eXperiential Travel) to Washington DC and Young Life. I'm involved in copious committees like ERRE and Title 1, always striving to make our school the best it can be. Additionally, I am a mentor teacher and Outreach Ambassador. But the most important roles I play are husband and dad!
I live life with a zeal for adventure and a heart full of hope. My mission? To inspire and uplift others. If there's anything I can do to help, just let me know. Let's embark on this amazing adventure together!
