What We Are Learning: 05/06/2024 

NOTE TO PARENTS: All Grade Levels will have the F.A.S.T. assessment three times a year, and 8th Grade will take the Statewide Science Assessment Testing.

What We Are Learning: 6th Grade-Note: MAP Testing this week. The students will begin exploring the Conservation of Matter and Energy as it applies the the Water, Carbon, Oxygen, and Nitrogen Cycle. Each student will be given a  study/vocabulary guide in class or they may use the one in Google Classroom. Students will be responsible for studying the Study-Vocabulary Guide each evening for at least 15 minutes and any notes taken in class. All students will have a science homework assignment everyday except on the weekends. This is 10% of their grade in science. I will give a quiz on each set of vocabulary words. Students will be encouraged to take their science books with them to study in the evening and bring it to class each day.

What We Are Learning: 7th Grade-Note: MAP Testing this week. The students are exploring the layers of Earth along with the Rock Cycle. Students will be responsible for studying the Study-Vocabulary Guide each evening for at least 15 minutes and any notes taken in class. All students will have a science homework assignment everyday except on the weekends. This is 10% of their grade in science. I will give a quiz on each set of vocabulary words. Students will be encouraged to take their science books with them to study in the evening and bring it to class each day.

What We Are Learning: 8th Grade-Note: Statewide Science Assessment and MAP Testing this week. The students will do a review of the electromagnetic Spectrum. We will use tactile teacher-made Spectrums for our exploration. Each student will be responsible for taking notes in class to study each each evening for at least 15 minutes. All students will have a science homework assignment everyday except on the weekends. This is 10% of their grade in science. I will give a quiz on each set of vocabulary words. Students will be encouraged to take their science books with them to study in the evening and bring it to class each day.

Note: Each student will be responsible for completing all classroom assignments, quizzes, assessments, homework, lab projects, and turn them in on time. Each student's homework will be given to me upon entering the classroom and you will not be given time to complete it during class.  A student's failure to complete homework will be given a zero each time it is not completed. All student accommodations are adhered to. Students, you may want to make self-made notes to study along with your Science Study/Vocabulary guides.

Behavior Plan Rules

1. Listen when others are talking.

2. Follow directions.

3. Keep your hands and feet to yourself.

4. Work quietly and do not disturb others.

5. Show respect for school and personal property.

6. Work in a safe manner.

Behavior Plan Consequences

1st time a rule is broken: verbal warning

2nd time a rule is broken: Conference with the student

3rd time a rule is broken the student will do a time-out inside the classroom or in another class. If you are doing Innovative Learning Environment a conference with your parent will be requested.

4th time a rule is broken the student's parents or guardian will be called.

5th time a rule is broken an administrator will handle the consequences.

Note: I will use one of two rubrics to grade all assignments. Please see the page called "Grading Rubrics" to view them.

A=90-100

B=80-89

C=70-79

D=60-69

F=0-59
