Safire DeJong

Safire DeJong, Ed.D. from Collaborative for Education Services leads social justice education trainings to support administrators, educators, and students to respond to difficult conflict related to incidents of oppression. This empowers students, teachers, and school/district leaders to think proactively and strategically about changes that can be made to build school communities that keep more students safe, especially those students who are most frequently marginalized.

Amanda Mozea

Amanda Mozea is a Sunderland Elementary and Frontier Regional alum. She graduated from Harvard University in 2018 where she studied Racial Inequality in Contemporary America and Ethnicity, Migration, and Rights. Amanda is an outreach manager at MEDIAGIRLS, a Boston-based nonprofit that teaches girls/young women critical media literacy and how to use media to empower themselves and each other.  She began consulting with our school district this year and actively serves on the district's Anti Racism and Equity Committee. 

Romina Pacheco

Romina Pacheco is a Social Justice and Equity in Schools Specialist from the Collaborative for Education Services. She and Safire DeJong started co-facilitating race and ethnicity intergroup dialogues in 2004. Romina has a Ph.D. from New Mexico State University where she studied Curriculum and Instruction and Gender and Sexuality Studies. Her hard work resulted in a dissertation titled: Teaching with Mindfulness: A Research as Praxis Study about Radical Democratic Participation in a Multicultural Education Classroom.

Tom Schiff

Tom Schiff has over 35 years of experience working with men and boys on issues of health, abuse, violence, sexual harassment, sexism, and homophobia as an educator, counselor, and consultant. He has served as a trainer and consultant for organizations ranging from public school systems to small local non-profits to the NFL. Tom was the founding director of the UMass Amherst Men and Masculinities Center and serves as an Adjunct Professor for both the Social Justice Education and the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies programs at UMass. He is a 2018 recipient of the Innovative Initiative Award from the Men and Masculinities Knowledge Community of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators for his work with Phallacies

Welcome to Radical Empathy Consulting. We are a team of educators from divergent walks of life who have converged around the need for critical transformation in K-12 education. Always visioning through a human-centered lens, our aim is to support secondary educators in their journey towards creating, facilitating, and leading anti-racist and socially just approaches to teaching and learning. From small, independent schools to large, regional districts, we have experience designing programs that accommodate divergent needs.
