Bridges in Mathematics
Bridges in Mathematics
Our math curriculum, Bridges in Mathematics, is designed to build a deep understanding of math concepts through hands-on exploration, problem solving, and discussion. It encourages students to think critically, explain their reasoning, and make connections between strategies. In third grade, students work with numbers in more complex ways—developing fluency with multiplication and division, understanding fractions, and exploring geometry and measurement. This approach supports all learners by combining direct instruction, structured investigations, and opportunities for practice in engaging, meaningful ways.

Math at Home
Looking to support your child’s math learning outside the classroom? The Bridges Math at Home website offers fun, engaging activities and resources that align with what we’re doing in class. It’s a great way to explore math concepts together and build confidence in problem-solving. No special materials are needed—just curiosity and a willingness to try!
The Importance of Fact Fluency
In third grade, building strong fact fluency in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division is essential. When students know their facts with confidence and accuracy, they can focus on solving more complex problems without getting stuck on basic calculations. Fact fluency supports number sense, boosts confidence, and lays the foundation for future math success. Practicing a little each day at home—whether through games, flashcards, or online tools—can make a big difference!
The Bridges in Mathematics curriculum includes a variety of engaging Work Places designed to reinforce key math skills through hands-on practice and games. Some of these Work Places are available in a digital format; however, not all have digital versions. Students will have opportunities to engage with both physical and digital Work Places throughout the year to support their learning in flexible and meaningful ways.
