Start with a mirror and a marker.
PUT THE MARKER AWAY - DO NOT USE MARKERS AFTER OIL PASTEL OR WET PAINT
Observe your reflection and create a Blind Contour Continuous Line Drawing.
Oil pastel - Color in your portrait and background
Collage - Find some spots you wish you could change. Cover them with pieces of tape, torn construction paper, magazine clippings, or old book paper.
Finger paint - paint over and change the image
Add shapes that make patterns
Colors that create unity
Complementary Colors that create emphasis with contrast
Lines that create movement
Scratch into, tear, take away layers, add new ones, and repeat over and over again until you are happy with your portrait.
