ReadyGEN.
-Ready Gen. is the main program used for reading comprehension, vocabulary, phonics, phonemic awareness , & writing. It is a balanced program that integrates social studies and science in its lessons.
-Some of the supplemental materials used to meet learning standards such as:
Orton Gillingham (phonics instruction)
Lexia (computer intervention program)
iReady (computer intervention program)
Reading Goals for End of Kindergarten:
Reading Independently at a level C / D based on Fountas and Pinnell's assessment program.
Example of a portion of a level D passage from Raz Kids:
"Animals need to eat food.
What do animals like to eat?
Some bears like to eat fish.
Some whales like to eat fish too."
applies phonics and word analysis skills to unknown one syllable words
develops and answers questions about texts
retells stories - telling the characters, setting, and main events
distinguishes between fiction and non-fiction texts
identifies words that express feelings or senses
connects to texts through - self, other texts or the world around them
knows common sight words (see sight word page for our list)
Writing Goals for the End of Kindergarten
using pictures, emergent writing, and dictation to:
express their opinion, feeling on a given topic.
write the sequence of something
provide information about a topic
tell about a personal experience
