Blue take home folders will be sent to and from school daily.
Phonics and Fluency Practice will be sent home on Fridays and expected to be returned on Wednesdays. I
All items will be pasted in a notebook & books will be in a bag to make transferring as simple as possible
-Books at your child's independent reading level will be sent home on Fridays.
-Goal : Have your child read each book out loud to you 3 times
Fill in the Book Tracker (pictured left) after each read - Located in the back side of your child's composition notebook
-Return books and tracker on Wednesdays
-Review of letters, letter sounds, phonics patterens, word reading, and sight words from the week and previous weeks will be pasted in the front half your child's notebook.
Goal: Read each section provided 3 times together and out loud. Fill in tracker attached to page (pictured left)
-Notebooks will be sent home on Fridays and expected to be returned on Wednesdays.
Each week we will have a letter of the week. A brown paper bag will be sent home on Fridays with the letter written on the front.
Search your home for an item that begins with that letter.
Discuss and practice 3 clues that your child could say to their class or reading group to help students guess what is inside.
Feel free to jot down clues (pictures or words) on the bag to help them remember.
Return the bags by Thursdays (you can turn in earlier if you would like) . We will present them on Fridays.
-students will write a note to you in their Friday Notebooks about anything they want.
-It will go home with them on Fridays
-Read what they wrote and write a quick note back to them in the notebook.
-We will take the time Monday morning to read the messages written to them to kick off the week.
-Please make it short and sweet!
-If you want to have your child practice reading it at home so they can read it to the class - go for it! If your child can not read yet I'll read it to them.
-weekly behavior log will be sent home daily
-please review and sign each night
-if there is any type of mark on the date that means it was a good day (plus sign, smiley face, star, colored in a color) all good
-if there is any type of note from me it is an indicator that I will be reaching out soon to fill you in on what happened or if I am seeking out some additional information to help support your child.
