Glenn Murray - Master Arborist
Glenn Murray is an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist and Certified Tree Risk Assessor, he has 23 years of arboricultural experience. The Board Certified Master Arborist is the highest level of Certification with the International Society of Arboriculture. He has also graduated from ASCA (American Society of Consulting Arborists) Consulting Academy.
He has been a Consulting Arborist for over 25 years, providing clients with many tree related services in the Greater Vancouver area. This includes consulting on Municipal Tree Bylaw administration, which assists clients in applications for tree cutting permits, rezoning or development permits. As well as tree assessments for hazards, condition, and impact. He possess a detailed knowledge of the individual pest and diseases that affect plants in the Pacific North West. He has also researched and developed effective safe organic controls for pests and diseases of the PNW. He has experience in various planning services related to trees, such as, tree retention and conservation planning, woodland restoration, disturbance mitigation, as well as tree and stand management planning. He has been accepted as an expert witness by the courts many times, while providing legal support for clients. He has detailed knowledge of autoCAD, Excel, and GPS systems. Finally, he has had extensive experience reviewing arboricultural or environmental reports, landscape or building plans, cost estimates, tenders, appraisals, and assessments as these pertain to urban tree management.
He has also taught arboriculture classes for the Burnaby School Board for over 10 years, instructing students on methods of Tree Identification.
Laura Murray - Consulting Arborist
Laura Murray is a graduate of the University of British Columbia with a bachelor’s degree in Urban Forestry and a minor in Greenspace Management. She graduated at the top of her class with honours. She is an ISA Certified Arborist and Certified Tree Risk Assessor.
She has worked for Frogger’s Creek Tree Consultant as a Consulting Arborist for many years. She takes pride in advising clients on tree protection and management during development, including methods to reduce soil compaction and alternative construction methods. She has efficiently conducted tree inventories that include tree species ID, pest and disease diagnosis, tree health and condition rating, and tree risk assessment. She has developed arboriculture plans using AutoCAD while implementing arboriculture care standards through report writing. Laura is responsible for supervising construction crews during excavation and demolition near tree protection zones. She takes pride in advising clients on tree protection and management during development, including methods to reduce soil compaction and alternative construction methods.
She also has Consulting Arborist experience working with Gye and Associates – Urban Forestry Consultants, based on Vancouver Island. She has drafted Tree Management Plans using Vectorworks for many projects including Demolition Plans, Construction Plans, Landscaping Plans, Tree Risk Assessment Plans, and Tree Canopy Maps for park assessments. Laura specializes in scaled technical plan analysis, tree impact evaluation, and graphical representation of arboriculture information in a reader friendly method.
She is currently teaching an ISA exam preparation class to help aspiring arborists study for the credential exam. The subjects she instructs include Botany, Soil Management, Tree Identification and Selection, Tree Installation and Establishment, Pruning, Tree Support and Protection Systems, Diagnosis and Treatment, Protection and Preservation during Construction, and Urban Forestry.
