Important Information
All productions are no-pass-no-play activities.
If you are not currently eligible, you may still audition/apply. However, it will be taken into consideration and could be a deciding factor in whether or not you earn a spot in the show. You must have a plan in place (including tutorials) to regain and maintain your eligibility throughout the process.
If you do not maintain/regain eligibility throughout the rehearsal process, you will lose your role/position.
Conflicts will not eliminate you from the show; however, please think about the time commitment for this show and how it fits in with your existing activities. Be SPECIFIC with your conflicts (exact dates and times).
Conflicts may be a deciding factor in whether or not you earn a spot in the show.
No conflicts are allowed from (production date/time). These are our tech and production weeks when we put it all together; it is really important to have everyone present.
Two unexcused absences from rehearsal may result in dismissal from the production.
If at any time your behavior/actions are beginning to jeopardize the success of the show, you will be removed from the production at the director’s discretion.
Rehearsal schedules will be made readily available online, hard copies, and posted on the call board outside the theatre room (315). Make sure to check all these regularly to note any changes. Email/Remind updates will also be sent if there are changes to the calendar.
You will need to be at every rehearsal you are called for unless you have an excused absence.
Ms. Penz is not in charge of remembering when you have rehearsals and when you do not. Part of being part of theatre is being responsible and knowing when you need to be present.
It is important that cast and crew members show up/leave on time as well as parents being on time to pick up their student.
After school rehearsals begin at 4:00 PM and finish at the designated time. 3:45 PM to 4:00 PM is snack/bathroom/break time to take care of your business and be ready to rehearse at 4.
If you are leaving early, you need to remind Ms.Penz before rehearsal starts.
If you are not present for at least half of rehearsal, you will be considered absent from that rehearsal.
You need to remain in the cafeteria or on stage throughout rehearsals.
You are responsible for bringing your own snacks for after school.
Cast and Crew Contract
As a member of the cast and/or crew:
I agree to attend all rehearsals/meetings for which I am scheduled.
I will remain at rehearsals/meetings until the rehearsal is completed or I am excused.
If I must miss a rehearsal/meeting for any reason, I will personally contact Ms. Penz prior to the rehearsal.
I agree to assist with the production of the show in any capacity.
I agree to meet “off book” deadlines by having lines memorized.
I understand that I may be responsible for certain parts of my costume.
I understand that I am part of a team effort, so I must have a positive attitude, even on days when I have a million reasons to not be open-minded and willing to work.
I understand that this show requires collaboration, and I agree to contribute my ideas and energy at appropriate times.
I understand Ms. Penz will make final choices pertaining to my role(s).
I agree to do all that I can to make rehearsals/meetings the best they can be.
I understand that during rehearsals I am to remain quiet until my part begins onstage.
Merit/Demerit System
We use a system of demerits to keep track of the company. With any show, it is vital that we be able to count on responsible behavior for success and safety. If you accumulate a total of ten (10) demerits, you will be removed from production.
One demerit will be given for the following reasons:
No script, no pencil
Gum
Horsing around, bad language, or bad behavior
Cell phone distraction during rehearsal
Using script after off-book deadline
Failure to clean up after yourself
Talking during instruction or in the wings
Other issues may be added as deemed appropriate by the director/stage manager(s)
