Birthdays: (see Child Nutrition Handbook at www.friscoisd.org/students/menus.htm)
FISD Policy - Children’s birthdays are acknowledged in a variety of ways at elementary schools. Schools are encouraged to work with parents in celebrating birthdays that will not include the distribution of snacks. Parents or grandparents may bring foods that meet or exceed the USDA Smart Snack Standards to one of the three school-designated party days.
Students issuing invitations to individual birthday parties or other celebrations may only do so at school if all students in the class are invited. These celebration invitations must be passed out at the end of the day with permission from the teacher. Deliveries from parents or grandparents of floral arrangements, balloons, cookie grams, etc., are discouraged. Depending on the campus, these will be delivered at the end of the day or the student will be notified to come to the office on his/her way out of school to pick up the delivery.
All foods offered (at no cost to the student) on the school campus must meet or exceed the USDA Smart Snack Standards on both party and non-party days.
