The emphasis of kindergarten homework is the process, not the product. It is all about extending your child's learning and creating a home to school connection. The types of homework you will see with your child this year are:
Reading Envelope:
Your child will have an envelope in their take home folder with a book from their book box or a game.
If your child brings home a book, read it each night, but return it to school each day in its envelope.
If your child brings home a game, play it each night, but return it to school each day in its envelope.
Please keep the envelope in your child's folder to exchange for new books or games throughout the week.
Word Wall Words:
Another great way to support your child's reading development is to practice their Word Wall Words. These words are words we encounter most often in language that cannot be sounded out, but must be memorized. Students learn these words by seeing, saying, reading, and writing them with multiple exposures. You can find a complete list of these words on the next page.
We look forward to seeing your child grow and hope you enjoy watching them learn at home throughout the year!
