Mr. Byrd Grew up in Carrollton Texas and was a product of the amazing teaching of Charlotte Moellering, Dennis Langevin, and Julie Blackstock. As a director, he is in awe that he gets to continue to learn from these teachers who are still around and making music happen!
Mr. Byrd loves soccer, and grew up playing on recreational teams in Carrollton. He worked at Domino's pizza when he was a teenager, and spent a lot of time as a leader for his church youth group. Mr. Byrd has always loved to cook, and does so at any given free moment he has! He started by cooking on the orchestra trips to Corpus Christi in High School. In addition, his boy scout cookouts were always a memorable group cooking effort!
After pursuing a performance degree at SMU in Dallas, Mr. Byrd played with several musical groups, and performed in Italy with his main group over the summer months. When he wasn't playing concerts, he worked at a fancy hotel restaurant to make money to fuel his true calling. After realizing the restaurant industry wasn't for him, he pursued private lessons while working with his former teachers and new friends from college.
Mr. Byrd quickly found how much fun it was to teach and inspire young people, and to this day he is still enamored by that mystery. While performing is still something Mr. Byrd loves and enjoys, his main focus is to give student the opportunity to make music in their lifetime independently and with their peers. He believes it is a true blessing to work with young musicians everyday!
