Hi there!
My name is Natalie Arruda and I am so excited to be joining the 4th grade team at Newman this year! I was born and raised in Northern California ( Bay Area!) where I started my teaching career. I recieved my bachelors degree and teaching credential from Saint Mary's College of California. This is my fourth-year teaching, and I am thrilled to be starting a new journey in 4th grade!
Outside of the classroom, I love spending quality time with my family and friends. I enjoy traveling and going on new adventures with my boyfriend. In the summer, I’m happiest at the beach—relaxing in the sun or swimming in the ocean. When winter rolls around, I'm up in the mountains snowboarding!
I'm looking forward to being a part of this amazing community this year. I can’t wait to see what this year holds for 4th grade!
Hello!
My name is Candace Bell. I graduated with honors from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and I am currently pursuing my Master's degree in Counseling. Previously, I have taught 1st grade for 3 years in Richardson ISD and six years teaching 2nd grade here at Newman! I’m looking forward to the new adventures that come with teaching 4th grade this year!
I am married with 2 children: Alaya (7 years old) and Shawn (24 years old). My husband served 8 years in the Marine Corps and is now a Texas State Trooper.
I enjoy spending time with my family, singing, and staying physically active. I am excited to get to know each of our amazing students and to have a wonderful year in 4th!

Welcome to 4th grade! This is my 21st year of teaching. I feel fortunate to learn and have tons of fun with Newman Elementary students!
Although I am a native Texan, I earned my Bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri and a Master's Degree from the University of New Mexico. Recently, I earned my school administration certification from the University of North Texas. Before going into the teaching profession, I worked for several years in the broadcast news business as a news producer.
In addition to teaching, I love to spend time with my three sons, other family members, and friends. You may find me on the weekends playing or watching various sports, going on outdoor adventures, or trying out new places to eat!
I look forward to teaching, learning, and sharing many memories with our Newman community this school year!
Hello! My name is Rachel Sartor and I am so excited for our school year together! I’ve been teaching for 7 years. I’ve taught 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and this will be my 4th year in 4th grade—it’s my favorite!
I graduated from Austin College with my Bachelor’s degree in 2018 and my Master’s in 2019. Go Roos! I’m married to my high school sweetheart, Hunter—we’ve known each other since elementary school! We have two adorable Yorkies named Paris and Winston, who definitely keep life fun.
When I’m not in the classroom, I enjoy doing photography and graphic design, and spending time with my friends—especially when we’re getting Mexican food or hanging out with our fur-babies! I also enjoy attending student extracurricular activities.
