What to do if my child has to be absent?
When illness or other obligations necessitates and absence, a parent/guardian note explaining the reason for the absence is required to excuse the absence. The Frisco ISD attendance policy will allow 8 days to be excused with parent notification. The student will be allowed three (3) days to submit a written note from the parent or guardian or Physician excusing an absence (an email is acceptable to mooreto@friscoisd.org).
When a student absence exceeds four (4) consecutive days, a statement from a physician or health clinic is required. The school nurse is also available to verify illness on the day of the absence.
Unexcused Absence information for students
Unexcused absences and days indicating that students have left early will trigger automated district warning letters regarding violations of truancy laws. District warning letters are triggered when a student has three (3) unexcused absences and again when the student has reached seven (7) unexcused absences. If you have any questions regarding the automated district letters please contact Ms. White at 469-633-2077 or via email whiteme@friscoisd.org.
An Attendance Contract should be implemented no later than the 7 UE (may be implemented sooner if a pattern is noticed). Per the FISD Attendance Protocols this must be used as an intervention.
When a student has accumulated ten (10) unexcused absences, It will be communicated with parents that the unexcused absences warrant a truancy filing.
Thank you for partnering with us in seeing that our students are learning and growing at school each day!
