What time do meets start? 4:30 PM. We will be at Independence, Heritage, and Emerson High School for our district and zone meets.
Will the field events be completed completely before running events start? Can we get a schedule of when each of T&F event will happen?
They may overlap with the start of the running events. Running events begin at 5:00 PM and the last event may begin around 7:25 PM. Order of events can be found on page 15 of the Track and Field Policies powerpoint.
Will the order of events and estimated time of events be sent out before the meet? The dual meet is the only meet that will have a condensed version of all of our other meets. Your athlete will know which events they are participating in 1-2 days before the meet.
What to expect on the day of T&F event? We will depart from Nelson as a team and be competing against four to five other campuses. The meet will follow the order of events and may have some adjustments based on the performance of the teams and individuals.
What time it'll end? This is subject to how long races take to get set and to get individuals lined up. The last race is to begin at 7:25 PM and after clean up you may expect a 8:00-8:30 PM pick up.* Communication will be sent out via SportsYou when the last race is starting or wraps up.
Can parents watch practice? Parents need to remain in their vehicle during practice. We do not have an observation area for parents at this time.
When do parents need to be there? Coaches will not be able to tell you if the events are running early or late. Pick up needs to be within the 15 minute timeframe of the Nighthawks returning to campus.
Last year, 2400 meters usually started early and some parents missed the race. Would it be possible to get a time for the race? TBA
What do kids need on meet days? Athletes need their uniform and their proper footwear. A water bottle is imperative as well as snacks provided from home. Concessions will not be provided for the track team. The team will make a "camp" at the meets and this is where they will leave their bags.
What should kids bring to practice? Water bottle, issued practice gear or grey and black shorts, and proper footwear.
