Halloween is coming near, and still some of you don’t have any decorations up. A lot of things can be used to decorate starting from just transparent white cloth, up to a creepy, cackling witch! You can put decorations up on walls, in the halls, outside the house, in your room, and technically anywhere else a knickknack can go. If you’ve never decorated your house before, DO IT! It is so much fun, and going shopping for the decor can give you quite a scare.
I spoke to some Wildcats about Halloween decor.
Asher Soto, 7th grader
Q: What do you think about Halloween decorations?
A: “Honestly, it's pretty odd for me, but it's pretty nice because you get to show how much you like Halloween and sometimes it shows how creative you are.”
Q: Do you decorate your house for this once a year event?
A: “Only sometimes, mostly because a lot of decorations are expensive.”
Mrs. Scott, 7th grade science teacher
Q: What do you think about Halloween decorations?
A: “I love Halloween decorations, I love the cobwebs and the fake spiderwebs. I like the spiders. I like scary stuff, like the ghosts and pumpkins. Anything spooky, I’m about it!”
Q: Do you decorate your house for this once a year event?
A: “I try to. I live in an apartment right now so I at least have a pumpkin, but you know what, I'll make it my goal this year to go all out as possible and have the cobwebs and spiders and all that good stuff.”
According to these 2 interviewees, Halloween decorations are fun to put up and really shows how creative you are with your decorations. I think it also has a positive effect and gives you lots of time to spend with your family!
For people who didn’t know, Halloween this year is on a Monday. I hope that those who are reading this and anyone else out there will really enjoy this year’s Halloween and have a wonderful time trick-or-treating!

As Halloween comes around the corner, it's time to think about your Halloween costume. Katz Live brought together a list of funny costume ideas to make the decision of choosing a good costume easier! You could dress up as…

Minion
Pillsbury Doughboy, the mascot of the foodstuff company (search it up)
Elmo
Gru (or a Minion!)
Imposter from Among Us
Soda can
“Sans” from Undertale
Success kid from the memes
Shrek
Of course, these are only a few ideas, and some may require more preparation than others, but all of these ideas are perfect to make someone laugh.

Everybody loves Halloween candy, but what is Wester’s favorite candy? We asked some students about their favorite candy. Here are Wester’s top 5 favorite Halloween candies.
Wester’s fifth favorite Halloween candy is M&Ms: with it being a chocolate that takes way longer to melt, a lot of students like it. Next up, Hershey ranked fourth place: being the good old chocolate bar, and it's not the favorite, but it’s still one of the best. third favorite is gummy bears: gummy bears being the first thing people think of when they hear gummies, and a lot of students love them. In second place is Reese’s, a good blend between peanut butter and chocolate it's wester's second favorite Halloween candy. Last but not least is Twix in first place being Westers favorite Halloween candy. Twix having a crushed cookie in the middle and a mix of chocolate in carmel students love Twix.
Those were Wester’s top five Halloween candies. Do you agree?

Halloween is just around the corner, and that means you will probably go trick or treating. Even if it’s just for fun, we all know how dangerous trick or treating could be if you’re in the wrong location. So many things can go wrong that we decided to make a list of 10 tips you can use while you go trick or treating this Halloween.
Tip #1: Plan a route
When going trick or treating, you will probably go around the neighborhood. Unless you know the layout, always plan where you want to go. If you get lost, that will be a huge problem.
Tip #2: Travel in Groups
If you travel alone at night there is a high chance that you can get taken or get lost. You should always travel in groups so you can look out for each other and deter possible threats.
Tip #3: Have a Light Source
Always have flashlights/glow sticks with you to let oncoming cars know you are there while crossing streets.
Tip #4: Do not Go Into Anyone’s House
This is pretty obvious. You should not go into anyone’s house while trick or treating. You could get snatched, which is very bad.
Tip #5: Put all Devices Away While Walking
This one is also pretty obvious. If you are walking with your phone, you could go literally anywhere without realizing. You could walk into the road, you could pass a bunch of houses, and more. Always be aware of your surroundings.
Tip #6: Only go to Houses You Know Have Candy
This is more of a publicity thing, but do not knock on the doors of people with their lights off. If it’s late at night, you shouldn’t knock on those doors because you could disturb the people inside.
Tip #7: Only Eat Candy That is Factory Made
You should only eat branded candy. No homemade treats because those could have harmful chemicals in them that could hurt you.
Tip #8: Be Alert at Driveways
If you find yourself walking in front of a driveway, be sure to look out for any cars pulling out.
Tip #9: If Available, Always Use Crosswalks
If you need to cross a street, use any crosswalk that’s available. If there are none, always make sure to check for cars. If you don’t do either, do you WANT to become a pancake?
Tip #10: Have fun!
Go out with your friends, go from house to house, and get as much candy as possible! Despite all of these safety rules, you can still have fun while you get a year's worth of candy.
With the knowledge you now own, go out there and have some fun. Eat all of the candy you want, and stay up as late as possible for maximum candy collection. Just remember to always be safe while you go around the neighborhood in your spooky costumes.

Hello Wildcats!
Wester Sports have finally begun. We are starting off the year with Football and Volleyball! So far, both sports have been doing excellent!! We have had many of the same, but new people on both teams which makes them so unique. So far, the Boys 8th grade has 3 wins, the Boys 7th have 5 wins in total, The girls 8th have 9 in total, and the 7th-grade girls have 12 wins in total, which is really good so far for our Wester sports teams!! They always find ways to improve and succeed every time they face challenging opponents. And even though they don’t win sometimes, the parents, students, and teammates are there to cheer them on and boost their confidence. Make sure to support them and bring your spirit to the games. The season won't last forever, so make sure to come to a game to see our Wildcats shine!
