About the Director

Miss Swanson...

...is the Orchestra Director at Griffin Middle school in Frisco.  Previously, she was the assistant orchestra director at Dan F. Long Middle School in Carrollton-Farmer's Branch.  

Miss Swanson received her Master's in Double Bass Performance from Baylor University.  Where she worked closely with with Double Bass Professor Dr. Sandor Ostlund, Director of Orchestras Stephen Heyde, and String Music Education faculty Dr. Michael Alexander.  She continues to be a part of the Baylor University Band and Orchestra Camp each summer. Before coming to Texas, Miss Swanson graduated Suma Cum Laude from State University of New York at Fredonia with her degree in Music Education. 

Throughout her musical career Miss Swanson has had the opportunity to perform with numerous ensembles outside her universities, including the Western New York Chamber Orchestra, Southern Tier Orchestra, and the Ulster County Community Wind Ensemble.  She also was selected to attend the Domain Forget Bass Camp to work with world renowned bassist Francois Rabbath.  

In Miss Swanson's free time she enjoys traveling back to New York to see her family, knitting, and spending time with friends.
