I graduated from Texas A&M University in 2009 with a BA in English and in 2012 with an MEd in Curriculum and Instruction. I became a teacher to serve young people, and an English teacher to promote this, idea, framed nicely by C.S. Lewis frames: "My own eyes are not enough for me... I will see through the eyes of others." When students ask with vexation why we always have to write, I answer "to use our voices," and when they ask with even more vexation why we have to read, I answer "to hear the voices of others." I am passionate about the pursuit of literacy and empathy through the ELAR curriculum.

When not in the classroom, I enjoy the company of my husband, Chris, and my toddling daughter, Jane. Jane becomes a big sister in February. She's pretty excited about it. (So she thinks.)
