Hi Third Grade Families!

My name is Raquel Cortez, I am so excited to meet everyone, and work together to have an amazing 2025-2026 school year.  

A little bit about me, I was born and raised in Illinois, about 35 minutes outside of Chicago. This will be my 11th year teaching in a bilingual setting. I graduated in 2016 from St. Xavier University with my Masters in Elementary Education. Then, I returned to school in 2018 and I obtained my second Masters in Dual Language and Teacher Leadership form Roosevelt University.  I have taught second grade, and 4th grade Dual Language in Naperville, IL. I relocated to Dallas last June, and this will be my second year teaching 3rd grade Dual Language at Christie Elementary. 

My fiance, Luis and I have two beautiful daughters, Leilani who is 16 years old and our baby Alondra who just turned 3 months. We also have a 9 year old labrador retriever named Luna, and a 6 year old bunny named Pimpon. 

In our free time we love spending time together exploring new restaurants, parks and just getting to know Dallas and the surrounding areas! Over the summer we love to take road trips and travel to beaches in Mexico.

¡Hola familias de tercer grado!

Mi nombre es Raquel Cortez, estoy muy emocionada de conocerlos a todos y trabajar juntos para tener un increíble año escolar 2025-2026.  

Un poco sobre mí, nací y crecí en Illinois, a unos 35 minutos de Chicago. Este será mi décimo primer año enseñando como maestra bilingüe. Me gradué en 2016 de la Universidad St. Xavier con mi Maestría en Educación Primaria. Luego, regresé a la escuela en 2018 y obtuve mi segunda Maestría en Lenguaje Dual y Liderazgo Docente de la Universidad Roosevelt. He enseñado Lenguaje Dual en segundo y 4to grado en Naperville, IL. Me mudé a Dallas en junio del 2024 y este será mi segundo año de Maestra de tercer grado en Christie Elementary. 

Mi prometido Luis y yo tenemos dos hermosas hijas, Leilani de 16 años y nuestra bebita Alondra de 3 meses. También tenemos una hermosa labrador Retriever de 9 años llamada Luna y un conejito de 6 años llamado Pimpón. 

¡En nuestro tiempo libre nos encanta pasar tiempo juntos explorando nuevos restaurantes, parques y simplemente conociendo nuestra nueva ciudad! Durante el verano nos gusta hacer viajes por carretera y viajar a las playas de México. 

Tengo muchas ganas de conocer a todos los increíbles estudiantes de tercer grado y aprender y crecer juntos.
